Find out if there are Flame Retardants in your Couch and other Products

Wanted: a small sample of foam from your couch or other products containing foam to learn if there are toxic flame retardants inside.

We are investigating the chemicals used in foam furniture and other products in homes and whether a label saying it meets a California furniture flammability standard such as Technical Bulletin 117 (TB117) can be used to screen for flame retardants. We will be studying foam furniture, mattress pads, mattresses and other products containing foam. These results will contribute to the scientific basis for legislation to limit the use of ineffective and toxic flame retardants.
